As I enter the world of cosplay, I learned this one thing. Most cosplayers consider their debut a fail. I am no exception. My first cosplay was all out of excitement and because I have the money that time, and didn't know anything about shopping for costume needs, I agreed to a costume maker rip-off price.. without knowing I'd regret it once I saw it.
The cloth was all shiny and flashy. I don't like it's effect because it does not really suit the character's dress. The headress doesn't match and the dress lacks some white parts, too.
The wig caterer who happened to be the first to accomodate my FB "looking for" post also sells wigs at a very VERY high price (which I have no idea at that time). Another one of my mistakes was ordering a ridiculously long wig. It was too late when I realize, long wigs aren't really advisable. It tangles A LOT, regardless of the brand and is really heavy, I had to adjust it too often on my head. I also received it ON THE SPOT. I didn't even had the chance to curl the it, which I should've done if it wasn't for the seller's delay.
Another thing that proves me as a noob was having "Le Natural Looking" make up. Yeah, the look is okay for everyday activities (e.g.: for work) but NOT for cosplay! I looked like a guy crossdressing as a girl. :/
Haven't got that much of those "Professional Photos" of them photographers because, yeah, I looked like a NOOB.
But like they say, mistakes gives room for improvements! :) And it really does. So don't be furious if you've got it wrong for the first (or second?) time, it's never too late to improve ;)
